2nd Street Market–Saturday June 25th

The 2nd Street Market operates in an historic block-long former 1911 B&O railroad building that was saved from demolition and renovated in 2001 in partnership with PNC Bank. It is a vibrant, local-food focused farmer’s market experience. Reminiscent of European markets, it’s alive with vendors, people and activity during market hours. The building has 3 ramps, with parking spaces by both ramps on 2nd Street. Accessible restrooms are available inside the building. The 2nd Street Market has over 40 vendors offering a unique selection of items from delicious lunch options to fresh vegetables, meats and eggs, fresh artisan baked breads, cheeses, flowers, bottles of wine, unique handmade items, chocolates, pastries, pies and more! Local growers, bakers, culinary specialists, and artisans fill this charming historic freight house.

On Saturday evening the group will drive to the nearby Greene Towne Center for dinner at McCormick and Schmick’s restaurant (4429 Cedar Park Drive, Beavercreek, OH).  Our reservation is for 7:00 p.m. and we will order off of the menu.

National Museum of the U.S. Air Force–Sunday June 26th  National_Museum_of_the_US_Air_Force_1723782

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is an experience of a lifetime.
The Galleries present military aviation history boasting more than 360 aerospace vehicles and missiles on display. There are many rare and one-of-a-kind aircraft along with thousands of historical items and powerful sensory exhibits that bring history to life and connects the Wright brothers’ legacy with today’s stealth and precision technology.

The galleries begin in this order: Early Years Gallery, World War II Gallery, Korean War Gallery, Southeast Asia War Gallery, Cold War Gallery, Missile Gallery, Space Gallery, Research & Development Gallery, Global Reach Gallery, and the New Presidential Gallery. One of the most important missions of the United States Air Force is to provide fast, safe and reliable air transportation for the President of the United States and other high-ranking government officials.

The U.S. Air Force has successfully fulfilled this critical airlift mission since 1945 by developing, operating and maintaining aircraft with increasing global reach capabilities. The Air Force’s presidential aircraft reflect that power and are a prestigious symbol of the office of the presidency. Illustrating this special status, they are painted in a distinctive blue and white paint scheme and are marked with the Presidential Seal, the nation’s flag and adopt the call sign “Air Force One.” Visitors will get the opportunity to view an historic collection of presidential aircraft, and walk through four of them, including aircraft used by Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower as well as the Boeing VC-137C also known as SAM (Special Air Mission) 26000, which was used by eight presidents – Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H W. Bush and Clinton – in addition to carrying heads of state, diplomats and other dignitaries and officials, on many historic journeys.

When you get hungry you can have lunch at the Valkyrie Café. Selections range from salads to pizza and everything in between to satisfy the hungriest of Museum guests. The Valkyrie Cafe is located on second floor above the far end of the Air Force Museum Store.
There is also a Refueling Café located in the Cold War Gallery offering quick snacks and drinks to tide you over to lunch, and one of the best locations in the Museum.

After the tour, depart for home at your leisure.
