This year we have scheduled our annual Fall Leaf Tour for Saturday, October 3rd. We will meet at 9:15am at Fisher’s Cafe & Pub, 1607 Main Street, Peninsula, Ohio. The cafe is located one building west of the intersection of Route 303 (Main Street) and the Akron-Peninsula Road.
Our club will provide coffee and muffins, and we will depart at 9:45 for the two hour scenic drive to the outskirts of Mansfield where our cars will be on display at the Raemelton Equestrian Center’s Oktoberfest celebration which will be held at the Snow Trails Winter Resort (3100 Possum Run Rd, Mansfield, OH 44903). All proceeds from the event benefit the Center which was founded in 1995 as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic riding for the handicapped. The mission of Raemelton Therapeutic Equestrian Center is to provide Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies to individuals with mental, physical, emotional, social and sensory disabilities.
The Oktoberfest will feature nearly 100 beers and wines as well as authentic German foods including Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Pretzels, and of course a variety of desserts, all available for purchase. There will also be live music from noon-midnight, Liederkranz (German Dancers that were very popular at Gemütlichkeit 2011!!), and Jӓger Girls.
New this year is a German Car Show where our cars will be the focal point. You’ll want to stay until at least 3:00 p.m.—you might win a peoples’ choice or judges’ choice award!!
The cost to attend the event is $10 per person and includes the morning refreshments and admission to the Oktoberfest as well as free passes to the historic Ohio State Reformatory (where The Shawshank Redemption movie was filmed) which our club will visit on a future date.
A very special thank-you to Tammie and Dirk Schluter from the Mansfield Motor Group for inviting the Western Reserve Section to be a big part of this special day!
