Concours Judging School & Old Cars Fun Day July 11 & 12

IMGP1766Mark your calendar now for our  Western Reserve Section Super Weekend!

2 days–2 great events–and a special discounted package price!!

Peter-LeslerOn Saturday July 11, we will host a judging school conducted by MBCA National Concours Chair Peter Lesler at the Fairfield Inn (9783 State Rt. 14, Streetsboro, OH 44241).  Our judging school is a great learning experience for the first timer and a valuable refresher for experienced judges too.

You’ll learn about the concours judging process–topics include what are the judging criteria on the score sheet, what do judges look for, how do I prepare my car for concours judging, and much more.

The MBCA Concours Judging School is designed to be an interactive workshop and features both classroom material and  hands-on judging experience.  After completion of the course, you will be recognized as a MBCA certified judge and will be eligible to judge at MBCA events such as Gemutlichkeit 2015.

Sound like fun? Then pre-register and arrive at the Fairfield Inn at 9:00 a.m. for coffee, refreshments, and get-acquainted time; the workshop will begin promptly at 9:30 with the classroom session that will run until approximately noon, followed by a deli lunch included in your registration.

IMGP1646At 1:00 pm we will turn our knowledge into a practical experience by judging fellow owner’s cars. We will need a smattering of cars to practice judge from the decade of the 1950s to current models. This will give would-be concours entrants an opportunity to get their car pre-judged prior to Gemutlichkeit 2015 and also to find out what the judges are looking for.

The registration fee for the concours school is $18 per person to cover the cost of the room and the lunch. It is important that you pre-register so we can have the space available and the refreshments ordered.

All attendees will be sent a certificate certifying completion of the MBCA Concours School. Attendees who judge at Gemutlichkeit 2015 in August will have their school fee refunded. We have space for about thirty entrants so please register early to ensure your spot.

IMGP1763Our always-popular Old Cars Fun Day is back for the 9th year and will be hosted by Frank and Mary Alice Cozza (32312 South Lane, Hanoverton, OH 44423) on Sunday July 12th from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  with a special guest presenter—MBCA National Technical Director George Murphy.

george-murphyGeorge’s primary topic will be Mercedes-Benz Maintenance & Repair – A systems approach.

Now that you’ve bought an older M-B, what can you do to keep it in top condition? This popular seminar is aimed at both the new car buyer and one who has purchased a used M-B with an uncertain history. George will address the non-routine items that should be looked at from time to time. Aimed at the driveway mechanic, the presentation will discuss such things as degradation of rubber parts, changing fluids, and common problems that can occur as your car ages. There will be plenty of time for Q & A too.

Have a specific question about your car? Send an email to fcozza@neo.rr.com with Ask George in the subject line. We’ll send it to George so he can have an answer ready at the event.

As always, Old Cars Fun Days is open to vehicles and enthusiasts of all ages. The registration fee is $18 per person and includes a delicious luncheon of pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw, potato salad, & refreshments.

Questions: contact Frank at fcozza@neo.rr.com or 330-222-1106.
